THE BRIEF HERE WAS TO LIGHTEN UP THIS FAMILY SPACE AND BRING IN A MIX OF SCANDINAVIAN MINIMALISM AND SPANISH POPS OF COLOUR. WE ACHIEVED JUST THAT BY KEEPING THE LARGE ITEMS IN THE ROOM A LIGHT CREAM AND SPICING THEM UP WITH THE COLOURFUL ART PIECE, A DISCREET BLUE BORDER TO THE PLAIN CREAM RUG AND - THE STAR OF THE SHOW - THE RE-UPHOLSTERED WINGBACK ARMCHAIR THAT WAS ‘RESCUED’ FROM THE CURBSIDE AND GIVEN A NEW LEASE ON LIFE. A ROOM IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT A BIT OF MATTE BRASS ACCESSORISING AND VOILA, IT ALL CAME TOGETHER AS A COSY WARM AND SERENE FAMILY ROOM.

Having an old piece of furniture in your space adds that extra homeliness. It tells a story and it gives one the satisfaction of prolonging the life of a lovingly crafted object. The excitement of seeing this armchair restored to its old glory was up there with that of unboxing a new sofa.

REFURBISHED ARMCHAIR

cosiness par excellence

A large comfortable sofa to sink in in front of the fire, a newly restored wingback armchair for when you sit down with your book and a cup of tea, a soft wool rug for your bare feet, a music corner that is not too removed from where the rest of the family is sat. This is what a cosy moment in a family’s life looks like.

details count

A grainy texture, a shiny metal frame, a soft wooly rug, a blue border instead of the classic same colour one, a striking patterned and colourful throw. All of the above make for a personal, cohesive and unique design.
